Over the past year Pine Crest School, Fort Lauderdale,  FL, qualified two policy teams for the TOC under coach Garrett Abelkop's direction. Garrett is leaving either to Coach in college or for a Director's position.  We have been active in Speech and Debate for close to half a century, winning the NFL National Championship in 1978.

We wish to hire a coach with knowledge of Policy Debate at the national level to run the Policy portion of our program. The school has excellent resources and an administration committed to Policy Debate. We have a number of debaters attending various summer institutes.  We host the Crestian Classic, a debate tournament with TOC bids at the quarterfinal level in LD and PFD and at finals in Congress.  We attend 8-10 travel tournaments annually this year including Harvard, Stanford, Emory, Glenbrooks, St. Marks, MBA, Univ. of Texas, Florida Blue Key, GDS, Woodward Academy and the TOC.

Prior teaching or coaching experience is preferred. Success in Policy Debate on the college level is highly preferred. Other requirements include a bachelors degree from an accredited institution by August 15, 2011 and the ability to travel extensively.  The successful candidate will teach debate classes during the school day and run practice sessions after school.
